"Contemporary Icons* by Kokimoto" project.
On Icons, but not the way we know them – created in days of fasting, but contemporary icons, created in the atmosphere of alcohol fumes and cigarette’s smoke. Even though I have called them "The Teacher", "Ichtus", "Judas", "The Prophet", "The Age of Aquarius", "Holy Trinity". I aim to move away from their juxtaposition with the classical icons. They are a contemporary adaptation of icons of the past and their relation to the present. They are memories of past times, which I bring to the present and merge with visions of the future.
These works are connected by the common concept of the process of fast and easy co-existence between old and new "icons".
I feel taken by calmness; the silence, high on Valium (or its modern version Prozac) only masks the noise, the fear and the desperation of the lost meaning. I suffer from the illnesses of our time.
Our subjective thinking as authors is influenced by the whole socio-cultural frame we live in.
In this way the contemporary artists suffer from the illnesses of their civilization and in their images we see the scars left by this illness.
This concept is my personal navigation tool that helps me not to get lost through time.
For a long time I was trying to create a fusion between the impossible pieces of history which I inherit. I tried to create a harmony, where the contemporary images do not fight with the old ones, but I found that when everything is based on harmony, life is strange.
I decided to focus on "the contemporary icons", using as a base my unique style and merging it with elements of the pop art movements, street art and animation.
Icon –
1. Eastern Church: a representation of some sacred personage, as Christ or a saint or angel, painted usually on a wood surface and venerated itself as sacred.

Икони, но не такива каквито добре познаваме, издържани в канон и сътворени в дни на пости, а "съвременни икони", създадени в обстановка на алкохолни изпарения и цигарен дим. Въпреки че ги назовавам "Учителя", "Ichtus", "Юда", "Пророка", "Ерата на Водолея" и "Света Троица", аз се стремя да избегна съпоставянето им с класическите икони. Това е по скоро една съвременна адаптация на икони от миналото, отнесени към настоящето. Спомени от минали епохи, които модернизирам и съчетавам с видения от бъдещето. Тези творби са обединени от обща концепция за историята на прехода, на бързото и лесно съжителство на стари и нови "икони".
Спокойствието, което ме е обзело, надрусаната с валериан (или неговия модерен аналог прозак) тишина само прикрива шума, страха и отчаянието по изгубения смисъл. Страдам от болестите на нашето съвремие… Върху субективно авторското се снема общото, културно - социалното. Така и съвременните художници, сякаш се заразяват с болестите на цивилизацията и рисуват, боледувайки от тях. Тази идея е като личен навигатор за мен през времето, компас, който ми помогна да не се изгубя. Дълго и упорито се опитвах да синтезирам невъзможните парчета история, които наследявам. Стремих се да поставя всичко в хармония, където съвременните образи да не пречат на старите, но когато всичко е в хармония, животът е странен… Реших да се концентрирам върху "съвременните икони", поставяйки основите на свой уникален стил, базиран на визуалните поп - течения, уличното изкуство и анимацията.

The creation of this work is the result of a brutal act witnessed by the author, an expression of a modern man in crisis. Similar to a legal expertise of damages caused by aggression, spite, envy and hatred, the expertise of our time shows it’s traumatised and "our reality – disfigured".
Violence is a fact bringing me to the thought of the American author Arthur Miller: "Everybody is responsible for the person next to them and denying this duty leads to the decline of the personality".
Един брутален акт, насочен към автора е причината за създаването на тази творба, израз на кризисното състояние на съвременния човек. Подобно на съдебна експертиза за нанесените щети, в следствие на проявена агресия, породена от злоба, завист и омраза, експертизата на съвремието ни заключава, че то е травмирано, а "действителността ни е обезобразенa". Насилието е факт, който ме навежда на мисълта на американския драматург Артър Милър: "Всеки човек е отговорен за ближния си и отричането на този дълг води до упадък на личността".
